Parking for events at Great American Ballpark is unique in that you can actually park in one state (Kentucky), and walk to another to attend a baseball game. Head south of the Ohio River for cheap rates, great views, and maybe even free street parking. Take a quick stroll over one of two bridges and you’ll find yourself right at the stadium! Here are a few of the best spots in both Newport and Covington in Kentucky.
Newport On The Levee – A shopping and entertainment mall that offers just $5 parking. Located right next to the Ohio River and roughly a 20-minute walk to the ballpark.
Columbia & 3rd Street – This surface lot also only charges $5 but is a bit further away from the Taylor Southgate Bridge.
Southbank Shuttle – Looking for a deal on parking, but not interested a long walk? The Southbank shuttle has several stops in both Newport and Covington, only charges $1 per ride, and offers service every 15-minutes. Click here for a map of the shuttle’s route.
Street Parking – Savvy drivers headed to GABP looking to save a few dollars can find cheap or free street parking on 5th St in Newport. Pay attention to street signs to make certain your vehicle will not be ticketed or towed. A quick lap around the Covington neighborhood should also reward you with an available spot.
131 Madison Ave. – Located in Covington, this open surface lot charges roughly $10 for event parking. Not a bad option if you have plans in Covington before or after the game.
Covington Parking – View the city of Covington’s website for a complete breakdown of parking in Covington.
Tailgating is not allowed before Cincinnati Reds games, but check out the open air bars along The Banks. There’s plenty of pre-game excitement and fun to be had!
